Africa-Press – Angola. The General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) registered, in 2022, 58 complaints in Cunene province that resulted in the opening of an equal number of criminal cases.
The information was provided this Tuesday, in the city of Ondjiva, Cunene province, by the IGAE delegate in this region, Moisés Sovi, during a lecture that aimed to mark the 31st anniversary of the creation of the General Inspectorate of State Administration, marked yesterday.
According to the official, of the 58 processes, 14 were completed and another 44 are subject to due diligence procedures.
He said that in the same period, seven vehicles that were in the possession of retired managers of municipal administrations were recovered, four in Curoca and three in Cuanhama.
Moisés Sovi informed that with the IGAE helpline, they received 426 calls, five of which resulted in the opening of cases in the delegation, while another 138 were transferred to the justice organs.
The lecture took place under the theme “the effects of anti-corruption actions on public value”, as part of the commemorative day of the IGAE, and served to enlighten teachers and students of the Polytechnic Institute of Ondjiva (IPO) on actions to combat corruption.
The aim of the initiative, according to the delegate, is to provide the academic community with tools aimed at increasing levels of knowledge, in order to better participate in actions to combat corruption.
He explained that the IGAE has been working to prevent corrupt practices such as impunity, poor provision of public services, undue receipt of advantages, appropriation of public assets, among others.
Academics value lecture
On the subject, the representative of the IPO, Mimo Garcia, said that the topic addressed is of collective interest, which helped students and teachers to deepen their knowledge regarding the role of the IGAE.
Mimo Garcia encouraged the IGAE to promote similar initiatives, to allow the population to be aware of the existence of this body dedicated to monitoring and combating corruption, as an evil that harms the majority.
The IGAE is an auxiliary body of the Executive, with the aim of carrying out administrative internal control of the public administration, through inspection, supervision, auditing, supervision, control, investigation and investigations of all bodies, agencies and services of direct and indirect administration. of the State, as well as the autonomous administrations.
The General Inspectorate of State Administration was created on January 17, 1992, by Law 2/92, preceded by the Cabinet for the Sphere of State Inspection and Control, in 1986.
