According to the head of the technical department at the Distribution Center in Cunene, Manuel da Cruz, the debt has been going on for 10 years and the biggest debtors are public institutions and domestic consumers.
Manuel da Cruz said that the institution has been permanently developing awareness-raising and updating customer data, as well as instilling in consumers the culture of paying for electricity consumption.
He added that the company recorded, in 20223, a turnover of 899 million 865 thousand and 27 kwanzas, compared to 865 million 584 thousand and 833 in the year 2022, showing an increase of four percent.
The official made it known that, in technical terms, 110 new transformation stations (PT) were installed in the city of Ondjiva and 1,35 new household connections.
The resizing of some PTs was part of the plan to improve the supply of electricity in different neighborhoods in the city of Ondjiva, whose customers were facing restriction problems.
For this year, he highlighted as a priority the process of extending the electricity network in the municipality of Cahama, which will benefit 175 families, whose work began on January 31st with the installation of a 250 kW PT, placement of stations and cable extension, in a joint action with the local administration.
With a power of 59,115 megawatts, the electrical system in the province of Cunene is interconnected only in the municipalities of Cuanhama and Namacunde, with energy produced from the Ondjiva thermal plant.
In Ombadja, energy is produced through the Xangongo hybrid plant, with a capacity of five megawatts, and Cahama with a 1030 kva generator group.
