Africa-Press – Angola. The cybersecurity area was highlighted during the technical meeting of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) focal points, held Tuesday, in Luanda.

According to the CPLP cooperation director, Manuel Lapão, speaking to the press, another area that will favor the future work of the organization is data protection.

According to Manuel Lapão, this meeting served to try to understand how the CPLP can fit into the international agenda on communications and what the member states can offer in terms of contribution in terms of sharing and cooperation, as it is recognized that communications have never been processed at such a high speed as at present and through increasingly digital and electronic means.

Manuel Lapão also said that this preparatory meeting for the meeting of ministers next Friday reviewed aspects related to the Digital Agenda for the CPLP, an instrument approved in 2018 at the meeting of ministers held in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea) and ratified by the Conference of Heads of State and Government when Cape Verde took over the presidency of the CPLP, in 2018.

The meeting of CPLP Ministers of Communications, made up of ministers and state secretaries of the nine member states, is held every two years, essentially focused on concertation and cooperation actions in the sectors in which they are responsible.
