Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of National Defense, Former Combatants, and Veterans of the Nation, João Ernesto dos Santos “Liberdade,” expressed his condolences this Saturday over the death of General Dinis Segunda Lucama, Inspector General of National Defense, in Luanda, due to illness.
In a message of condolence, the minister praised the general as “an exemplary military politician, a staunch patriot, and a faithful servant of the Nation,” who dedicated his life to the defense of Angola, the consolidation of peace, and the preservation of national unity.
“In this hour of pain and mourning, we bow with respect and gratitude before the memory of General Dinis Lucama, who, with courage and a sense of mission, contributed decisively to the affirmation of our country as a free, independent, and sovereign state,” the statement read.The minister also offered his “deepest condolences” to the bereaved family, emphasizing that the memory and example of the deceased “will remain as a reference of dedication and patriotism for future generations of military personnel.”
Dinis Lucama distinguished himself in the People’s Armed Forces for the Liberation of Angola (FAPLA), where he contributed to the defense of independence and territorial integrity.
In the FAA, he held positions of great responsibility, commanding the 21st Motorized Infantry Brigade, the 101st Tank Brigade, the 4th Infantry Division, and the Central and Northern Military Regions, before serving as Chief of the Army General Staff.For his distinguished career, he was appointed Inspector-General of National Defense, Former Combatants, and Veterans of the Homeland, a position he held until his death.
In recognition of his services to the nation, General Dinis Lucama was recently awarded the Commemorative Medal of the 50th Anniversary of National Independence, Peace and Development class, and the Medal of Valor of the Angolan Armed Forces, 2nd class, distinctions that honor his contributions to the defense of the homeland, the consolidation of peace, and national reconciliation.
