Africa-Press – Angola. The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) dismantled, Monday, in the city of Uíge, a network of citizens dedicated to the illegal exploitation of diamonds and other miners.

Composed of three national citizens, aged between 50 and 65, the group was dismantled during a micro-operation carried out by the local SIC, in the Sonangol neighbourhood, on the outskirts of the city of Uíge.

This Tuesday, during the presentation of the alleged criminals, the SIC spokesperson in Uíge, Zacarias Fernando, explained that the detainees illegally exploited diamonds and other miners in the village of Tema, municipality of Songo, in the province of Uíge, using sophisticated material.

Communication radios, a diamond stone, diamond detector and weighing machines, pickaxes, hoes, motor-pumps, samples from several miners, FAA and PN uniforms, among other means, were found and seized in possession of the accused.

In view of these facts, the accused were forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, for the necessary legal procedures.
