Africa-Press – Angola. The militant Adérito Jorge was elected, this Saturday, the new first secretary of the MPLA in Sumbe, Cuanza Sul province, during the VIII extraordinary conference of the municipal committee of the party.
The new leader was elected with 186 votes in favor, corresponding to 96.5 percent, replacing António Wenga Franco, who is holding the position of second provincial secretary of the party.
In his first speech, Adérito Jorge thanked the militants for their trust and promised to work to guarantee the MPLA’s victory in the next electoral challenges.
“It is a very challenging mandate, which is why our actions must be focused on reinforcing internal cohesion, so that together we can overcome the next challenges, not only political but also economic, social and others aligned with the realization of the desires and expectations of citizens”, stressed.
For his part, the first provincial secretary of the MPLA in Cuanza Sul, Job Capapinha, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to materialize the electoral promises, with a view to satisfying the legitimate interests of the people.
On the other hand, he exhorted MPLA militants, sympathizers and friends to be aware of those who intend to denigrate the image of the president of the party and of the Republic, João Lourenço, who has done a lot to improve the lives of citizens.
