Africa-Press – Angola. The President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, arrived in the Angolan capital early this evening, thus closing the list of Heads of State and Government confirmed for the 43rd Ordinary Summit of SADC, to be held on Thursday ( day 17).
For this Summit, the Heads of State of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, of Botswana, Mokgweetsi Masisi, of Malawi, Lazarus Chakwera, of Namibia, Hage Geingob, and of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, also landed in Luanda yesterday.
Throughout the day, the Presidents of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, and of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, also arrived, as well as the Vice President of Tanzania, Philip Mpango, the first received at the International Airport February 4th.
In Angola, there are also representatives of the Heads of State and Government of the Seychelles, Mauritius and Comoros.
During the Ordinary Summit in Luanda, the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, will assume the rotating leadership of the organization, for the 2023/2024 term, replacing the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi.
At the same, the report of the President of the Body for Cooperation in Politics, Defense and Security will be presented; analyzed the implementation of the Strategic Indicative Plan for Regional Development 2020-2030, as well as the 2015-2063 Industrialization Roadmap.
The event takes place under the theme “Human and Financial Capital: The Main Drivers for Sustainable Industrialization in the SADC Region”, having been preceded by the meeting of the SADC Troika, the body in charge of issues of peace, defense and security in Southern Africa .
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is an inter-governmental organization, created in 1992, and dedicated to cooperation and socio-economic integration in the region, as well as cooperation in matters of politics and security.
The community comprises Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
