Africa-Press – Angola. The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, arrived this Sunday afternoon in Nairobi, Kenya, to represent Angola, from the 4th to the 6th of this month, at the first African Climate Summit and African Week of Climate.

At Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Esperança da Costa, who is in Nairobi on behalf of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, was welcomed by the Kenyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and senior officials from both countries.

The African Climate Summit and African Climate Week bring together Heads of State and Government, the African Union and the United Nations system, as well as civil society.

The first Africa Climate Summit, led by the President of Kenya, William Ruto, with the support of the AU, will address the growing exposure to climate change and the associated costs, globally and in Africa in particular.

With the initiative, African leaders, once again, seek to outline urgent measures to mitigate the effects of climate change.

As for the Summit, it is a platform to inform, frame and influence commitments, promises and outcomes, ultimately leading to the development of the Nairobi Declaration.

Under the motto, “Driving Green Growth and Climate Finance Solutions for Africa and the World”, the Forum will also focus on presenting innovative green growth and climate finance solutions in Africa and the world.

The forum will take place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre, where preparatory work is already taking place, bringing together technicians from several countries, including Angola.
