Africa-Press – Angola. The vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, defended this Sunday, in the village of Muxima, municipality of Quiçama, that every Angolan should love the country, be a defender of peace and promoter of Angola’s development.
Luísa Damião extolled these advices to the press at the end of the pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Muxima, which took place from the 1st to the 3rd of this month, under the motto, “With Mary, We Love and Protect the Children”.
According to the vice-president, the message conveyed by Dom Emílio Sumbelelo, bishop of the Diocese of Viana, who presided over the homily, calls everyone to pay attention to children and encourages leaders to have a greater commitment to solving citizens’ problems.
For Joana Tomás, general secretary of the Angolan Women’s Organization (OMA), the motto chosen by the Catholics denotes the church’s concern for protecting this fringe and strengthening family skills.
At the closing mass of the 2023 edition pilgrimage, the Bishop of the Diocese of Viana, Dom Emílio Sumbelelo, appealed to society and politicians for the need for a joint effort to accelerate progress and take Angola out of the current difficult economic and social situation.
