Executive reaffirms improvement of the business environment in the country

Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, said this Saturday, in Luanda, that the Angolan Executive has done everything in terms of policies to create a good business environment, in order to attract foreign direct private investment and encourage banking and private business sector to do their part.

“The results are still timid, we need greater boldness, for businessmen to accept the risk inherent in any business”, said João Lourenço at the meeting with the Economic and Social Council, the advisory body of the President of the Republic.

According to the President, the executive is giving full support to family farming and, as a result, much of what “we consume comes from family farming in virtually all municipalities in the country”.

“We also want to see an increase in food production by small and medium-sized companies. We encourage all those who are seriously engaged in the production of grains, corn, beans, soybeans, rice, sorghum and wheat, in the production of poultry and eggs, goats and pigs, cattle to achieve food self-sufficiency”, he stressed.

In his speech, the Head of State said that the Executive opened lines of financing for the promotion of the production of grains, meat and fish and other seafood products, an opportunity that should be seized by the Angolan private business sector.

He referred that the country is making a great effort to increase the supply of water and energy for the population, but also for companies and for the promotion of the national industry.

He announced that he will invest in the construction of thousands of kilometers of lines to transport the energy produced in the lower Kwanza by the hydroelectric dams of Capanda, Laúca and Caculo Cabaça when completed, to supply the whole country with energy.

He added that the Malange-Xá Muteba-Saurimo-Dundo, Gove-Matala, Gove-Menongue, Belém do Huambo-Lubango-Moçamedes-Tômbua lines are planned, for which the necessary resources will be mobilized, as it is a priority for the economic and social development of the country.

On the other hand, João Lourenço spoke of the need to diversify the economy, considerably increase the production of goods and services and diversify and increase the sources of foreign exchange earnings, in order to face the current moment that worries everyone.

“We cannot conform to our reality of excessive dependence on crude oil export revenues, in 48 years of national independence and 21 years of effective peace”, he stressed.

In this sense, President João Lourenço said that it is necessary to expand the range of export products, preferably manufactured, with added value to sell at a better price and guarantee local employment, especially for youth.
