Africa-Press – Angola. Presentation of projects for mass cycling and the difficulties that the sport faces in Angola, made to the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, and the 3rd place of the National Women’s Under-16 Team, at Afrobasket2023, marks the news of the sports week.
In cycling, during an audience with practitioners, the president of the Angolan Federation of the sport (FACI), Cremilda da Chagas Rangel, informed the Head of State about the annual plan, which aims to carry out, in October this year, the “Volta Internacional Cucumber”.
According to the director, the event will start in the province of Huambo, passing through Benguela and Cuanza Sul, ending in Luanda, as well as Angola’s intention to host the African Championship, in 2024. At the meeting, the three national road champions, absolute and women, were also presented.

Also in terms of convention, Petro de Luanda (national champion) is exempt from the first round of access to the group stage of the African Football League, due to participation in the continental Superliga.
The decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) also covers the remaining teams on the continent, which will be involved in the Super League next September. The eight teams will only enter the last round, which in case of triumphs will immediately enter the group stage.
