Africa-Press – Angola. A memorandum of understanding for the operationalization of the Monetary Social Transfer Program (Kwenda), in the municipality of Samba Cajú, was signed (Wednesday, between the Local Development Institute (FAS) and local authorities.

The act, witnessed by the governor of Cuanza Norte, Pedro Makita Armando Júlia, aims to begin the selection of areas and beneficiaries, according to the phases and components of the program, as well as other procedures for the implementation of KWENDA.

On the occasion, Pedro Makita Júlia asked for the involvement of traditional authorities in raising awareness among communities to join the program.

He highlighted the impact of Kwenda in alleviating poverty in vulnerable communities.

The provincial head of FAS, Lourenço Matias, informed that Kwenda plans to register, in Samba Caju, around seven thousand families, in an action that will involve the participation of 40 community development and health agents (Adecos).

At Cuanza Norte level, KWENDA covers the municipalities of Quiculungo, Ambaca, Golungo Alto, Banga and Ngonguembo, with a total of 19 thousand, 151 households that benefit from social monetary transfers.

The program has so far trained 172 Adecos, who work on the household registration process, a number that is growing with the expansion of Kwenda to other municipalities.
