Africa-Press – Angola. Twelve people died and 29 were injured as a result of the 134 incidents recorded by the Civil Protection and Fire Service (SPCB), during the weekend, in Angola, said, on Monday, in Luanda, the corporation’s spokesperson, Wilson Baptista.

To take stock of the events of the last 72 hours in the country, the deputy fire commissioner highlighted that there was a reduction of 12 deaths and 10 injuries compared to the previous weekend.

According to the source, of the cases of death, four were due to presumed drowning and others were due to suicide with a blunt object (bottle), electrocution, physical aggression, animal attack (alligator), road accidents, abandonment of a newborn, unknown cause and burns in the fire, with one case each.

Regarding the injured, he stressed that 10 were due to road accidents, five due to bee stings, the same number due to burns, four due to physical aggression and others due to spontaneous accidents, sudden falls, work accidents, accidents in a sporting context, with one case each.

Wilson Baptista highlighted that, in that period, the SPCB saved seven young people who were about to die from drowning, two in the province of Luanda, one in Huambo and the same number in Cuanza-Sul and Benguela.

On the other hand, he made it known that during the last 72 hours, 141 various emergency services were carried out, highlighting pre-hospital care with 89.

The SPCB had a total of three thousand 759 firefighters and 102 technical resources, such as firefighting, rescue, ambulances, kayaks, canoes and speedboats.
