Africa-Press – Angola. The first provincial secretary of the MPLA, José Martins, said that the party in Cuando Cubango has the machine in tune and expects a significant victory, in the next general elections in August.

He informed that work had been carried out with the action and sector committees of the party, as well as the OMA and JMPLA structures in some localities of the province. He added that the next round will cover the municipal committees of the east and south of Cuando Cubango, namely Mavinga, Rivungo, Dirico, Calai and Cuangar.

He underlined that there is a feeling of high satisfaction among the people of Cuando Cubango and with determination they have been expressing support for the party and the leader João Lourenço, so that they continue firmly in the conduct of public policies with a view to increasingly improving life. Angolans and the province in particular.

He stressed that the high degree of satisfaction is not just from the militants, friends and sympathizers of the party, but from the entire people of Cuando Cubango, who are with candidate João Lourenço and the MPLA to continue working towards the sustainable development of the country.

“Therefore, comrade president, you can rest assured that all the militants, friends and sympathizers of our party in the province are working for the overwhelming victory and to overthrow the opposition parties, to show you that in Cuando Cubango the MPLA is in charge and more nobody,” he noted.

José Martins thanked President João Lourenço for all the support given during the five years of his first term, above all, for the timely guidance for the execution of the projects of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) that took a while to start in the province.

He said that since the official start in March of this year, dozens of actions and works by the PIIM have been underway, in addition to the purchase and distribution of light and heavy vehicles to municipal and communal administrations that are facilitating the mobility of people and goods throughout the province extension.

The provincial director of Education, Inácio Samba, said that the speech of candidate João Lourenço exceeded the expectations of MPLA militants and, in particular, of the student population of Cuando Cubango who were rewarded with the announcement of the construction of a university that will allow the training of many cadres for the socio-economic development of the Southeast region of Angola.

He referred that in terms of educational institutions, especially higher education, Cuando Cubango remains far behind in relation to other provinces in the country, which have dozens of schools and that supply has been greater than demand.

Inácio Samba stressed that the two higher education institutions in the province do not satisfy the demand of the student population. This is why many young people are forced to travel to the provinces of Luanda, Huíla, Huambo and Bié, a situation that entails high costs.

“With this good news from the candidate João Lourenço, we are confident that in the event of a victory for the MPLA in the August 24 general elections, Cuando Cubango will have a university that will make the entire population very proud,” he said.

Businessman Francisco Chicote said that the speech of the MPLA candidate served as a hope for better days for the class, which will have opportunities to compete in the various projects presented, mainly the rehabilitation and construction of social infrastructures, such as roads, universities, expansion supply of electricity and drinking water.

He stressed that the rehabilitation of the Caiundo/Catuitui road will allow businesspeople from Cuando Cubango to purchase various products in Namibia, without any embarrassment, given that the degrading state of the access roads discourages businessmen.

On the other hand, the traditional and religious authorities expressed expectations with the promises of the MPLA president, mainly, the construction and rehabilitation of roads, the University of Menongue, systems for capturing and distributing drinking water, electricity, among others. other projects, with the aim of improving people’s living conditions.
