Africa-Press – Angola. This Sunday, the Fish On fishing club won, for the second consecutive time, the International Sport Fishing Competition, held on the waters of the Cuito river, in the municipality of Dirico, province of Cuando Cubango.
The winning club from the Republic of Namibia achieved 24 points and received a bronze statuette and a value valued at 276 thousand kwanzas.
In second and third position were the VMS Sport and Aliboats teams, also from Namibia, with 14 points, having won the equivalent of 207 and 138 thousand kwanzas as prizes.
This second edition of the competition saw the participation of 47 competitors, representatives of 17 teams from three countries, namely Angola, Botswana and Namibia.
When speaking to the press, the leader of the winning team, Leon Ras, expressed his joy at winning the title, having highlighted hard work, discipline and team spirit as the secret to consecration.
He praised the level of organization of this edition.
He regretted the cold that was felt during the competition, which negatively affected the fish catch.
He promised to continue working hard for the next edition.
The International Sport Fishing Competition is a competition that takes place annually in the municipality of Dirico, which is more than 600 kilometers from Menongue, capital of Cuando Cubango.
Organized by the Okavango Basin Tourism Development Pole, in collaboration with the National Agency for Management of the Angolan Okavango Region (ANAGERO) and the Ministry of Tourism, the fishery aimed to present existing tourism products and attract national and foreign investors.
