Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial secretary of the FNLA in Uíge, Almeida Vungo, defended, this Wednesday, greater dissemination of the figure and achievements of the party’s founder, Holden Roberto, as well as other heroes of the National Liberation Struggle.
The person in charge, who was speaking at the lecture on the life and work of Holden Roberto, recalled the contribution of the nationalist and founder of the FNLA in the National Liberation Struggle.
For this reason, he explained that the FNLA in Uíge has held lectures, seminars and conferences, in order to inform about the historical and political journey of the nationalist and founder of the FNLA.
Regarding the party’s challenges, the official pointed out the ongoing work to reverse the situation in the next elections that the country will hold.
About Holden Roberto
Álvaro Holden Roberto, son of Garcia Diasiwa Roberto and Joana Helena Nekaka, was born in Lula, Mbanza Kongo, on March 12, 1923. He emigrated very early with his parents to Leopoldville (now Kinshasa), probably in April 1925. that Angola was under colonization that did not offer social conditions, the parents emigrated to Thysville (Mbanza Ngungu), along the Matadi-Leopoldville railway.
Holden Roberto was initiated into political life by his uncle Manuel Sidney Barros Nekaka. Between 1949 and 1952, Barros Nekaka influenced the Diaspora in Leopoldville, although the adhesion of the Angolans was timid.
After that, he goes to Matadi, where a qualitative adhesion was noticed. On October 10, 1954, the Union of Peoples of Northern Angola (UPNA) was founded.
He died in Luanda on August 2, 2007, having been buried in Mbanza Congo, his birthplace.
