Africa-Press – Angola. The former deputy municipal administrator for the Songo Financial Area, Josumira Xavier, was arrested Thursday, by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Uíge, for allegedly being involved in the embezzlement of more than 25 million kwanzas.

Speaking to the press, the spokesperson for the local SIC, Zacarias Fernando, explained that the crime occurred in November 2022, when the Municipal Administration of Songo signed a contract for the rehabilitation of a health center and a water supply system, in Quimalalo village, municipality of Songo, worth more than 25 million kwanzas.

After opening an investigation and investigation process, it was concluded that there had been over-invoicing and illicit diversion of the said amount, a situation that led to his arrest.

Due to the crime, Zacarias Fernando said that the accused, aged 38, has already been presented to the judge of guarantee, for the application of coercive measures.

For alleged involvement in the same crime, the Criminal Investigation Service in Uíge arrested, at the beginning of this year, the former municipal administrator of Songo, Gomes Ndinga.
