Africa-Press – Angola. The country needs about four million houses to mitigate the housing deficit, estimated this Thursday, in Luanda, the director of the Legal and Exchange Office of the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Rui Narciso.

For this purpose, the Executive recently launched the national project of directed self-construction, which provides for the provision of 910,600 lots for housing, nationwide, in this five-year period (2023-2027).

The Program will allow for the orderly expansion of new urban and rural centers, through the implementation of territorial planning instruments, with a view to making them stronger, inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable, thus providing a better quality of life and human dignity. citizens and ensure their right to decent housing.

The said diploma, approved at the 4th Ordinary Meeting of the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers, provides for a pilot phase to define the process of implementing the programme, at the level of the entire national territory, whose implementation begins in 2024.

Speaking during the seminar on the Angolan Real Estate Market, Rui Narciso advanced that the legislative diploma, which regulates real estate activity in the country, is ready and should be approved in the next six months, to allow greater control over real estate developers in the purchase segment, mediation and sale.

In turn, the director of Linear Comunicação, Alberto Domingos, said that the objective of the seminar is to increase literacy in the sector and promote good practices in the real estate sector.

On the motto of the seminar “The Real Estate sector as a Lever for Employability and Economic Growth at the country level”, he defended the creation of an independent agency to regulate the construction market and intermediation, in order to meet the demand.

The general director of the company My Constrution Civil, António Bambe, emphasized the difficulties that companies face in purchasing materials, given the depreciation of the national currency against the dollar, with high financial losses of around 40% on profits.

In turn, the director of the Academy of Insurance and Pension Funds, Gabriel Cangueza, considered that only about four percent of insurers promote property insurance.
