French Embassy Presents Project to Digitize Angolan Archaeology

Africa-Press – Angola. The French Embassy in Angola will present, on Tuesday, the project for the Digitization, Patrimonialization and Accessibility of National Archaeology (DIG-ARQ). The presentation ceremony will take place at the Luanda Science Center and will showcase the work carried out from 2023 to 2025, which enabled the digitization of the MNAB collections (Lunda-Norte, Dungo, Mormolo), modeling of sites at risk, such as Caculo Cabaça, before the construction of a dam, and Ndalambiri, a combined site from the Iron Age and the Late Stone Age.

According to a note sent, the project has the support of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.

DIG-ARQ aims to preserve, document and make accessible Angolan archaeological heritage, currently threatened by urbanization and climate change.

The event is a milestone in the 30 years of scientific cooperation between France and Angola.
