Golfers Gabriel Guilherme and Mário Pires, winners of the first two editions of the Domingos Fula Open, are the big absentees from the fourth round taking place, started at 7:00 am, at the Morro dos Veados Golf Course.The athletes did not agree to the tournament because they are “religiously” linked to Mangais Golf Resort, a top-tier competitor of the Luanda Golf Club. Gabriel Guilherme won in 2021 and Mário Pires in 2022. Both are ready for the Unitel BFA tournament, scheduled for the 19th of this month at the Mangais course.
The Domingos Fula Open takes place in the stableford net format over 18 holes with the most up-to-date rules of the Royal, Ancient St Andrews Golf Club (R&A), Royal and Ancient St Andrews Golf Club (USGA) and local.
Prizes are guaranteed for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, ball closest to the flag on the Green of hole 11 and longest drive on the fairway of hole 16. The awards ceremony will start at 1 pm and will take place on hole 19 of the course.
From the list of probable golfers present, the following stand out: Manuel Dias, Hermenegildo dos Santos, Manuel Barros, Domingos Monteiro, António Marçal, Lázaro Cândido, Nicolau Mateus, Luife António, Joseph Ekupua, Farrukh Siddik, Jaime Fonseca, Patrício Jeremias, Francisco Domingos, José Amaral, Sílvio Gabriel and Evanilson Kiteculo.
In the last race, Manuel Dias, Hermenegildo dos Santos and Manuel Barros, all with 37 points, were the strongest. Domingos Ferreira won the longest drive and Manuel Barros won the ball close to the flag.
