Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial governor of Uíge, José Carvalho da Rocha, defended, this Monday, greater publicity of the draft Road Code Revision Law, in order to reduce the levels of road accidents in the region.
José Carvalho da Rocha, who spoke at the opening of the provincial act of public consultation on the Road Code Revision Bill, which is taking place in the city of Uíge, considered it essential that the document be disseminated, especially to motorbike drivers, so that drive responsibly.
“We need to carry out a program to disseminate and educate this document to young people”, added the governor.
He considered the document a fundamental legal instrument for transit in the country, hence the need for everyone’s contribution, he said
In turn, the technician from the National Road and Traffic Planning Council, Adriano do Rosário, who chairs the meeting, recognized that the current Highway Code is out of adjustment with the current situation the country is experiencing, hence the need for its review.
The draft Law to revise the Road Code, which has 178 articles, of which 72 were revised and three new ones were introduced, has already been submitted to public consultation in the provinces of Cabinda, Bengo and Zaire.
In the province of Uíge, the meeting brought together officers from the National Police, jurists, judges, traditional authorities, teachers, motorists, university students and other guests.
