The gross premium issued in the 2024 financial year by VIVA Seguros was set at kwanzas 29.3 billion, representing a variation of around 563 percent compared to the same period last year.The data was presented on Wednesday in Luanda by the institution’s financial administrator, Seomara Cristo, at an event attended by the chairman of the Executive Committee, Damien Veerapatren.
Health products contributed around 44 percent to this revenue, multi-risk products contributed 22 percent, petrochemicals contributed 8 percent, automobiles contributed 4 percent and agriculture contributed 3 percent, respectively.
Overall, the insurer issued 130,000 insurance policies, representing 11,000 policies per month, and paid out 1,500 claims (around 125 claims per month) during the period under review.
The cost of claims amounted to around 2.6 billion kwanzas, an increase of around 66 percent, proportional to the growth in premiums.
“Compared to 2023, there was a proportional increase in premiums, however, our claims rate is around 14 percent, which is in line with the average market rate,” said the administrator.
The CEO, Damien Veerapatren, said that the insurer currently has 35 solutions, which demonstrates the organization’s commitment to ensuring the future with the protection that insurance provides.
