Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, recognized the power of the media in the fight against corruption and impunity, in the promotion of social well-being and in the formation of opinions that allow the taking of assertive political decisions.
The Holder of the Executive Power manifested himself, this Wednesday, on the Facebook page of the Presidency of the Republic, where he highlighted the achievements of media professionals.
“ May 3, the day dedicated to freedom of the press, I congratulate all professionals in the sector for the commitment and dedication they have shown in carrying out their mission to report truthfully, impartially and responsibly”, he underlines.
According to João Lourenço, ensuring freedom of the press throughout the country is a path of no return.
Established in 1991, in Paris, France, by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the date aims to sensitize political leaders and civil society to the defense of freedom of the press, as well as how to pay homage to media professionals killed in the exercise of their duties.
