Africa-Press – Angola. Dozens of blood bags were, this Monday, donated to the hemotherapy center of the Municipal Hospital of Soyo, province of Zaire, by the staff of the 2nd Unit of the Border Guard Police in the district.
The gesture of the staff of this body assigned to the Provincial Command of the National Police of Zaire, is part of the celebrations of the 45 years of existence of this institution, to be marked on the 26th of this month.
On the occasion, sub-inspector Inoque Isabel, who headed the police delegation, said it was the duty of the members of the corporation to embrace solidary causes.
In thanking the initiative, the general director of Soyo Municipal Hospital, Afonso Sabino, asked that more public and private institutions follow the example of the Border Guard Police.It revealed that, daily, 10 to 12 patients undergo blood transfusions at the aforementioned health unit, with emphasis on cases of malaria, caesarean sections and road accidents.
According to the source, the Hospital Municipal do Soyo needs permanent donors to minimize the lack of blood that the hospital center is experiencing.
