Africa-Press – Angola. The general director of the National Statistics Institute (INE), José Calenji, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Pilot Census/2023 process in Cunene province.
The Pilot Census/2023, which runs since 19 July last, in seven provinces of the country, in Cunene covers two communes namely Naulila (Ombadja) and Mukolongdjo (Cuvelai).
Speaking to the press this Wednesday at the end of the visit to verify the process in Cunene, José Calenji said that, so far, the pilot census is running smoothly in the two selected areas in this region.
“From the observation made about the process, we were able to perceive that it is on the right path, this also due to the conditions created for the collection of all related information”, he said.
José Calenji recalled that 51 special cases were identified in Naulila, during the pilot census operations, related to homeless people, migrants, collective institutions, health centers, police and military posts
For the Pilot Census/2023 operations, in the province of Cunene, 70 census takers are available, of which 53 are in Naulila and 17 are in Mukulongodjo.
In addition to the census takers, the process has a provincial technical assistant, two municipal assistants and an equal number of communal assistants, as well as nine locations in the selected areas.
The aforementioned statistical operation will take place over a period of one month in seven provinces, namely Bengo, Bié, Cuando Cubango, Cunene, Luanda, Lunda Norte and Uíge and 14 previously selected municipalities.
