Africa-Press – Angola. A 14-year-old boy died and two were seriously injured Friday, in the municipality of Cela, Cuanza Sul province, as a result of the explosion of an RPG-7 type explosive device.
According to a note from the Provincial Command of the National Police, the incident took place in the Cambango neighbourhood, when the three minors were collecting ferrous material (scrap metal) for sale and when putting together the unexploded device they were surprised by its explosion.
“Unfortunately, when collecting the scrap metal, the children also gathered the unexploded explosive device, having been surprised by its explosion, which killed the 14-year-old boy on the spot and left the other two, aged five and 13, seriously injured”, reads in the report of the National Police.
According to the document, the injured minors were transported to the Hospital Municipal da Cela, where they receive medical care.
This is the first incident with an explosive device recorded this year in the municipality of Cela, one of 12 in the province of Cuanza Sul.
