Africa-Press – Angola. Space applications developed by specialists from the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN) are drawing the attention of the international community.

Recently, the International Space University praised the projects developed by GGPEN technicians. One aroused the interest of one of the institution’s students, who had just approved the theme “The Use of Satellite Images to predict Crop Productivity in Angola” as a master’s project.

“I wish to recognize and appreciate your contribution to International Space with cutting-edge research topics for Master’s students to work on as their individual projects,” praised ISU Assistant Professor of Space Systems Engineering, Ph.D Tejumola Taiwo Raphael, in the letter addressed to the director general of the National Space Program Management Office, Zolana João, who was invited as co-supervisor of the master’s thesis.

One of the space applications developed by GGPEN specialists that acts exactly in the research area of ​​the ISU master’s student. TECH-Agro is a service aimed at farmers, which allows analyzing the state of agricultural fields, from the verification of plant development, using the vegetation index obtained from data from satellites and drones.

“The student is very motivated and has research acumen to achieve the project’s objectives”, says the letter, reinforcing that the project was approved by a commission from the International Space University.

“We are looking forward to working with you on this project, with the hope that the results will not only be useful in improving crop productivity in Angola, but also contribute to the global knowledge base on the application of satellite technology to improve the life on Earth”, reinforces Ph.D Tejumola Taiwo Raphael.
