Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, received this Thursday, in a ceremony at the Presidential Palace, in Luanda, the Letters of Credence of the new ambassadors of Uruguay, Chile, Eswatini and Australia, all with the status of non-residents.

Ambassador Nester Navarro, Uruguay, Julio Fiol, Chile, Mlondi Dlamini, Eswatini and Tegan Brink, Australia delivered their Letters of Credence.

During the act, the diplomats spoke separately with the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

A similar ceremony took place last Wednesday (19), with the Angolan statesman receiving Letters of Credence from the resident ambassadors of Uganda, Julius Katembeka, Vietnam, Duong Chue, and Senegal, Ndao Malik.

On the same day (Wednesday), President João Lourenço also received Letters of Credence from the resident ambassadors of Turkey, Ufuk Ekici, of Cape Verde, Júlio de Morais, and of the United Arab Emirates, Salem Alshamsi.

Letters of Credentials are formal documents that designate a diplomat as ambassador to another sovereign state.

These letters are addressed from one Head of State to another, asking him to give credibility to everything the ambassador says on behalf of his country.

The letters are presented personally by the ambassador to the Head of State in a formal ceremony, an act that formalizes the immediate beginning of diplomatic functions in the country.
