Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial secretary of JURA in Cunene, Peregrino Germano, praised Wednesday, in Ondjiva, the contribution of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, in affirming cultural identity.
On the occasion of National Hero’s Day, to be celebrated on September 17th, the UNITA youth leader said that Neto was an unprecedented writer who fought tirelessly in the search for cultural recovery.
“Our immortal guide, hero and mentor of several poetic works such as Sagrada Esperança, Renúncia Impossível and Amanhecer, which inspire youth and evoke patriotic feelings”, he stated.
He recalled that these are narratives that encourage Angolans to consciously make their contribution to the country’s development.
For this reason, he asked young people to read more of Agostinho Neto’s works, in order to reveal themselves as potential writers and indelibly elevate the national literary panorama.
Peregrino Germano also highlighted Neto’s achievements as a humanist, doctor, politician, statesman, whose bravery and patriotism led him to inscribe his name in the history of the world, Africa and Angola.
Internationally, he is considered a model for current and future generations to follow. He revolutionized the history of Africa and gave a direction to the history of Independent, free and prosperous Angola.
His political voice and powerful encouragement to Africans in the fight for independence, the only path to achieving freedom and affirming cultural identity, made him an immortal guide on the continent.
