Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSMJ), Joel Leonardo, appointed Daniel Modesto Geraldes to lead the Jury Committee of the Public Curricular Competition for the provision of 40 vacancies for Judges of the Courts of Appeal.
The information was obtained on Sunday through a dispatch from the agency.
The Judge Advisor and Member of the CSMJ will be assisted by Judges José Lobão Cosme, vice-president, and Fernando de Almeida Gomes, member.
According to the order, the Jury Commission will work with a technical support group, made up of six members assigned to the Secretariat of the Superior Council of the Judiciary, and may be expanded to include more people whenever deemed necessary.
According to the regulations of the public competition for filling vacancies for appeals judges, the candidate must have been a judicial magistrate for at least 10 years, with a minimum grade of good in the last three evaluations.
Exceptionally, according to the regulations, candidates who cumulatively meet the requirements of having joined the judiciary at least five years ago, having a minimum grade of good in the last three evaluations and distinct professional experience with practical relevance for the development of the Judiciary Branch may compete for the positions of appellate judges.
When submitting the application, the candidate must formalize the process, accompanied by the curriculum vitae, copy of the Identity Card, instrument of possession as Judge of Law or Magistrate of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Certificate of Literary Qualifications or proof of the request for recognition of the last three evaluations with a minimum grade of good.
In addition to these requirements, the candidate must also present documents that prove distinct professional experience with practical relevance for the development of the Judiciary, only for applicants, with less than ten years.
For those aspiring to become Public Prosecution Service Magistrates, according to the competition regulations for the appointment of appellate judges, who have joined the institution (Magistracy) at least five years ago, it is also required to attach a document attesting to the absence of any record of negative evaluation for an identical period.
According to the order, the decision to open the public competition was deliberated after the 5th extraordinary and 8th ordinary session of the CSMJ Plenary, held on October 16 and last Friday, under the terms of paragraph e) of no. 1 of article 184 of the Constitution of the Republic, in conjunction with paragraph a) of article 23 of Law no. 14/11 of March 18, Law of the Superior Council of the Judiciary.
Applications, in accordance with the CSMJ’s procedures, must be submitted to the institution within five working days of the working week from the second publication in this journal, by submitting a request addressed to the President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary.
