King Muatchissengue defends greater support for agriculture in the fight against hunger

Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the general assembly of the National Association of Traditional Sovereignty of Angola (ANSTA), King Muatchissengue Wa Tembo, defended, this Monday, in the city of Uíge, that the fight against hunger essentially involves supporting agriculture familiar.

In an interview the sovereign of the Lundas, who participated in the election ceremony for the president of ANSTA in Uíge, referred that Angola is a country with fertile land and plenty of water, favorable conditions for promoting the development of agriculture.

For this reason, he said that “betting on agriculture is fighting hunger in the country”.

As a result, he defended greater support from farmers in the country’s villages and communes, having justified that the majority of the population in those areas is dedicated, essentially, to subsistence agriculture.

He lamented the fact that many farmers in villages and communes are unable to expand production and sell their products due to lack of financing, transport and other agricultural support.

To reverse this situation, he exhorted the provincial governments to work with the traditional authorities, in order to identify the cultivation areas and, consequently, the availability of conditions for the start of agricultural activity.

Regarding the increase in the price of products in the basic basket, the king of the Lunadas understands that this is a situation that should deserve the participation of all Angolans.

Created on May 20, 2022, ANSTA promotes the national unity of traditional power and the resolution of conflicts within the country’s traditional authorities.
