
Africa-Press – Angola. A lecture that talked about the life and work of Agostinho Neto, the first President of Angola, marked this Friday, in Menongue, the opening of the National Hero’s journey at Cuando Cubango, which will take place from the 10th to the 17th of September.
When discussing the topic, the director of the Provincial Education Office, José Samba, said that Angolans celebrate this date at a particular moment in their history, in which the Angolan government develops public policies and strategies to overcome the economic and financial crisis, unemployment , as well as the articulation of paradigms for combating hunger and reducing poverty.
“Inspired by Neto’s vision, according to which: Agriculture is the basis and industry the decisive factor, the Angolan government has achieved a set of public policies aimed at revitalizing the economy in its various domains, whose goal is to achieve well-being of families and companies, crucial factors for the country’s development”, he stressed.
He referred that, although the fight is now being fought in the economic field, it is necessary that it does not disconnect from another battle, which is the rescue of the values for which Angola was built, respect for all those who have fought for the liberation of Angola and Angolans .
He defended that these principles should be present in each of the Angolan citizens and transmitted to the new generations, through the narration of historical elements, that allow the youth to know the past, to better evaluate the present and foresee the future.
António Agostinho Neto was born in Icolo e Bengo on September 17, 1922 and died in Moscow on September 10, 1979.
He was an Angolan doctor, writer and politician. In 1975 he proclaimed National Independence and became the first President of Angola until 1979.
