Africa-Press – Angola. Ten head of cattle were devoured by lions in less than twenty days in villages in the municipality of Dirico, province of Cuando Cubango, a situation that is worrying the creators of this district.
This Monday, the spokesman for the Civil Protection and Fire Service of Cuando Cubango, Albano Jamba Cutarica, explained that, last Friday (21), in Dirico, five heads of cattle were devoured by a pack, without, however, attacking humans.
The spokesperson assured that there is a pack in the district, mainly in the villages of the communes of Xamavera-Tune and Mucussu, which are located in the Tourism Development Pole of the Okavango Basin.
Despite this, he said that the situation has caused panic among the population, as these animals continue to circulate in the respective villages, mainly at night.
The hub, with an area of 12,000 hectares, is located on the banks of the Cuito and Cubango rivers.
The Pole’s Management Office is currently working to strengthen relations with national and foreign operators to streamline the project.
The Okavango Basin Tourism Development Pole is an appendix to reinforce the promotion of tourism, within the international Okavango/Zambezi environmental conservation framework, which is being carried out by five member countries, namely Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
