Africa-Press – Angola. The city of Luanda will host from the 4th to the 19th of this month, the 19th edition of the International Festival of Comics and Animation (Luanda Cartoon), which will take place at the cultural space Camões and Belas Shopping.

To this end, the BAI Foundation and Estúdio Olindomar, the organizer of the Luanda Cartoon International Comics and Animation Festival, which is now in its 19th edition, signed this Thursday a memorandum of understanding for the sustainable development of Cartoons in Angola.

According to a note, the ratification of the agreement between the two institutions, as well as the availability of the financial package to support the Festival, falls within the pillar of Culture of the BAI Foundation, whose purpose is to work for development and sustainability of Angolan arts and culture.

Luanda Cartoon is the annual event that brings together cartoon bands, cartoonists, illustrators and animators, amateur professionals and fans. The success of Luanda Cartoon is reflected in the considerable public support and recognition of the respective brand.

The project arose from an initiative by artists who, in the late 1990s, held exhibitions of Banda Desenhada in galleries in Luanda.

This movement attracted more practitioners and the need to share this art form with the world led to greater organization and dynamism of more exhibitions.
