Africa-Press – Angola. Luele Mining Company’s CEO, Romulo Mucase, announced on Tuesday that the company had recorded significant growth in diamond production, reaching six million carats in 2024 and 6.5 million in 2025. This represents approximately 43 percent of national production.
Speaking at the 32nd edition of Mining Indaba, the largest showcase of the mining sector in Africa, Mucase said that Luele’s participation in the event aimed to consolidate its institutional positioning and attract investment for new projects, thereby reinforcing the company’s image as a benchmark for responsible and sustainable mining.
“Luele operates based on the principles of environmental sustainability and corporate governance (ESG), aligning itself with the best international practices in the sector,” he said, adding that the company obtained three international certifications in 2025: ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment) and ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety).
Certification under the IRMA (Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance) standard is underway and is expected to be completed within the next two years.
The CEO emphasized the social impact of the company’s activities, noting that Luele had generated over three thousand direct and indirect jobs in just two years of operation, compared to the 380 million registered in 2023 — the year of the company’s incorporation and the inauguration of the treatment plant.
Romulo Mucase spoke about the community program, which includes the construction of 350 homes for local populations, as well as the creation of social infrastructure such as schools, a medical centre, and subsistence agricultural programs. These projects are expected to be completed by the end of the semester.
“It is the company’s ongoing commitment to promoting a balance between economic sustainability and corporate social responsibility,” he concluded.
