Property Tax Revenues Grow 18 Percent

Africa-Press – Angola. At least 86.5 billion kwanzas were collected by the General Tax Administration (AGT) in Property Tax (IP) in 2025, representing a year-on-year growth in gross revenue of around 18 percentage’s Tax Services Directorate, Yuri Sumbi, said on Tuesday in Luanda.

He pointed to the third Tax Region, which includes the provinces of Luanda and Bengo, as the one that contributed the most, with 54% of the total amount collected, adding that last year, the base of registered properties reached 440,366, with 26% corresponding to new urban centers, 7% to condominiums, and 67% to other types of properties.

For this year, according to projections from the General State Budget (OGE), the revenue to be collected is around 122.5 billion kwanzas.

Yuri Sumbi stated that, among the changes introduced this year, there is the electronic submission of the taxable income declaration for taxpayers who rented their properties and received rent during the 2025 fiscal year, forgiveness of the 2020-2023 tax for taxpayers who voluntarily register their properties and declare their ownership in 2026.

He also listed the forgiveness of IP interest for 2024, upon payment of the tax and fine, exemption from Property Tax on the transfer of properties up to 40 million kwanzas for residential purposes, a 50% reduction in Property Tax on the transfer of properties for residential purposes between 40 million and 100 million kwanzas, with 0.5% in the province of Cabinda and 1% in other regions of the country.
