Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan State oil company Sonangol is participating in Mining Indaba for the first time. The largest mining conference in Africa, it provides Sonangol with an opportunity to present mining projects, particularly those involving critical minerals.
According to the company’s CEO, Mario Graça, the purpose is also to present the company’s portfolio of lubricant products for the extractive industry, adding that the company’s presence at this important event is part of its portfolio diversification strategy and commitment to the energy transition process.
He said that Sonangol is involved in the development of a critical minerals project, currently in the prospecting and development phase, whose objective is the production of quartz, an essential raw material for the production of solar panels.
“This project is part of our energy transition process, considering that Sonangol is also involved in large electricity production projects, particularly photovoltaic energy, where solar panels play a key role,” he stated.
Sonangol is also participating in Mining Indaba through its distribution and marketing area, focusing on lubricant products, which are widely used in the daily operations of the mining industry.
Mario Graça highlighted that Sonangol owns the only lubricant factory in the country, a fact that allows it to present, at this international event, a complete portfolio of products capable of meeting the needs of the mining sector and other strategic sectors of the national economy.
The CEO added that the company’s participation in the conference also aims to attract partners and investors for the lubricant business and mining projects, through the identification of potential clients, with a view to attracting partners who can add value and contribute to their development.
The Mining Indaba takes place annually in Cape Town, Republic of South Africa, and brings together governments, businesses, investors and mining industry experts from around the world.
