Africa-Press – Angola. The second phase of requalification of Luena’s peripheral neighborhoods, including Social da Juventude, Sinai Novo, Mandembue, Passa-Fome, Alto Campo and Kwenha, begins shortly, with the process of leveling the streets in progress.
This involves paving 12 kilometers of sections connecting Estrada Nacional 250 (EN250)/Maternidade Provincial to the 11 de Novembro school complex, Lar da 3a/Medical Center “Teixeira de Bravos”, Sambuatama/section of EN 180 to the intake of the Lumeje river.
In all, the requalification that will cover the asphalting of the streets, placement of curbs, sidewalks, ditches, public lighting, will cost more than two billion kwanzas, within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
The acting governor of Moxico, Wilson Augusto, visited the districts covered to assess the degree of readiness and preparation of the companies for the start of the asphalting work.
In 2022, the Tchifuchi, Santa Rosa, Hospital, N’zanji and part of Sangondo neighborhoods were renovated with asphalting work on the streets, improved drainage, public lighting, placement of curbs and sidewalks.
The requalification had a cost of nine billion and 269 million Kwanzas, also financed by the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
Also as part of the requalification of the streets in Luena’s outlying districts, the section Cine Luena/Urbanização 4 de Fevereiro/neighbourhood Zorró, within a 10 kilometer radius, was also paved, financed by the oil company Sonangol.
In total, in the first and second phases, it is intended to pave 28 kilometers of roads, including the neighborhoods of Sangondo, Kwenha, Passa-Fome, Alto Campo, Social da Juventude and Sambuatama.
