Africa-Press – Angola. The author of the book “Political Discourse in the Feminine,” Luísa Damião, highlighted this Wednesday the commitment of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to valuing the potential of women and young people in the country.

Speaking during the book’s presentation, the MP and former vice-president of the MPLA expressed gratitude to the Head of State for, as she said, recognizing and encouraging the contribution of Angolan women to political and social life.

Luísa Damião recalled that she was the first woman to hold the position of vice-president of the party for six years, and emphasized that, at the end of her term, the President again entrusted the role to a woman, Mara Quiosa, thus reinforcing the commitment to female representation.

The author also emphasized the encouragement of youth and stated that the choice of the new vice-president of the MPLA demonstrates a clear intention to promote a generational transition within the institutions.

“When I assumed the vice-presidency, they said I was too young. Today we have an even younger woman in the position, which confirms the vision of renewal,” she said.

Luísa Damião also highlighted that President João Lourenço has reaffirmed, over the years, the importance of the role of women and young people.

She recalled, in this regard, a speech given in 2022 in Mbanza Congo, where the Head of State once again praised the female contribution to the country’s development.

She said the book brings together 72 speeches that convey emotion, solidarity, youth, and responsibility.

At the book launch ceremony, Luísa Damião mentioned her professional career, an institution she considered a “demanding and formative school.”

She therefore thanked her former colleagues and the Chairman of the Board, Josué Isaías, acknowledging that much of her professional maturity was built within this news organization.”, in fact, a great school, demanding, disciplined and formative. Much of what I know and who I am as a professional and as a woman comes from the teachings of that institution,” she acknowledged.

The book “Political Discourse in the Feminine” seeks to value the intervention of women in the public sphere and recognize the evolution of their participation in national decision-making processes.

The First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, graced the book launch ceremony. The well-attended event also included the presence of the President of the National Assembly, Adão de Almeida, the President of the Court of Auditors, Sebastião Ngunza, the Vice-President of the MPLA, Mara Quiosa, members of parliament, members of the Political Bureau, the government, and the diplomatic corps.
