Africa-Press – Angola. A group of Serbian businessmen yesterday expressed their intention to invest in cotton production in Malanje, in line with the Executive’s plan to reactivate this crop to stimulate the country’s textile industry.

The claim was expressed during an audience between the provincial governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga and the aforementioned businessmen.

At this time, the province of Malanje has 250,000 hectares available to national and foreign business class, for cotton exploration.

According to the president of the Angola/Serbia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Massunga Henriques, as well as cotton, the businessmen also intend to build a factory for the assembly of tractors and agricultural implements, and another for processing wood, as well as investing in the energy sector.

To this end, he stressed, the embassies of both countries are developing contacts at government level in order, in the short term, to materialize these projects.

On the other hand, Massunga Henriques highlighted the twinning protocol of the cities of Malanje (Angola) and Čačak (Serbia), to be signed shortly, aimed at strengthening cooperation in terms of tourism, preservation of fauna and flora, training of staff in the agricultural and technological sector, as well as in the field of marketing food products.

Meanwhile, the governor of Malanje also received representatives from the Chinese multinational CGGC and the business group Pioneiro Limitada.

At the end of the meeting, the member of the China/Angola General Chamber of Cultural Exchange and Commerce, Ortiz da Rosa, pointed out the production of photovoltaic energy and agriculture as areas of interest for the mentioned companies.

Angola and Serbia have had diplomatic relations since 1975, and they support each other in bilateral and multilateral relations.

With the People’s Republic of China, Angola has established diplomatic relations since 1983, marked by cooperation in various fields.
