Matias Pires: Luanda Summit can strengthen dialogue between DRC and Rwanda

Africa-Press – Angola. The specialist in International Relations, Matias Pires, said today that the Luanda summit that will bring together, next Monday, Presidents Paul Kagame, Félix Tshisekedi, Évariste Ndayishimiye and the former President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, could strengthen the climate of dialogue that existed before the last tension, between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.

The aim, he added, is to fulfill the Roadmap for Luanda by carrying out all the steps and schedule agreed by the parties involved.

“What will be sought now is to try to harmonize the strategy for peace in the east of the DRC with this rapprochement between the Roadmap of Luanda and that of Nairobi, the latter having as facilitator the former President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta”, he detailed.

In the academic’s opinion, the fact that the conflicting parties converge in confidence in favor of the leadership and mediation of President João Lourenço is a prestige factor for Angola.

The Head of State, João Lourenço, invited these entities in his capacity as Champion of Peace and Reconciliation of the African Union, in charge of the conflict between the DRC and Rwanda.
