Africa-Press – Angola. The Mayamba publishing house exhibited during three days, in Luanda, more than 300 books of different genres and languages at the fair aimed at celebrating its fifteenth anniversary.

Mayamba’s editorial assistant, Edmira Cariango, said that the books were grouped in 12 collections, including children’s books, legal books, fiction, short stories, poems and novels.

The exhibition included books published in native languages, such as the dictionaries of Kwanhama, Umbundu, Kimbundu and the grammar of Binda, among others.

Edimira Cariango informed that in the near future the publishing house intends to increase the publication of books in native languages so that they can be more appreciated.

The publishing house is called “Mayamba” in honor of the grandmother of its director general, Arlindo Isabel.

It was founded on March 8, 2010 and has two bookstores, one in Luanda and the other in the province of Uige.

The company has been editing, publishing and distributing books since its inception. It has published a series of more than 500 books.
