Africa-Press – Angola. The secretary of state for higher education, Eugénio Silva, defended, on Thursday, in Luanda, the materialization of gender equality policies to guarantee women equal opportunities in the socio-cultural and political areas.

Eugénio da Silva, spoke at the 1st National Forum of young university women under the motto “The vision of young university women from the perspective of economic and social development”, said that the policies will be materialized in order to sensitize the management of institutions to work with student associations for greater mobilization of women.

On the occasion, the person in charge made it known that the student sector is made up of around 40 to 45 percent of women, which is significant and shows that the interest and mobilization of women for training, at higher education level, works towards their preparation for life.

The governor explained that vacancies and places are available to any citizen, so they must seek to compete for them under equal circumstances.

“I would say that politics in general, and the policy of gender equality, ensuring that there is no discrimination, neither before nor during,” he said.

This training, he continued, was discussed with managers, in order to guarantee respect for equality rights, for the condition of women, as well as guaranteeing ethical standards and seriousness, so that everyone can play their role in training. without constraints.

Eugénio Silva said that the event is appropriate for all women, because it raises issues of gender equality, women’s emancipation, their affirmation in social spaces, as well as in academies or organizations.

Therefore, he stated that the event is a fundamental instance to discuss some problems that women students face and to certainly establish strategic mechanisms to promote greater access for women to courses.

According to the government official, this access is guaranteed because at secondary education level there are scholarships for girls studying in the areas of science, mathematics, technology and engineering.

Furthermore, he added that to promote their entry into higher education and make the presence of women more important in the academic context in these areas, the role of women, young students, the problems they face, will be analyzed, its formative process, thereby establishing mechanisms so that it can find its space.
