Africa-Press – Angola. The Expanded Advisory Council of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) Delegation in Cuanza-Norte advocated this Friday for increased public investment to help strengthen public safety efforts in the province.

In the final statement of the 6th Expanded Advisory Council of the local Ministry of the Interior (MININT) delegation, held from September 18th to 19th in Ndalatando, the council also recommended intensifying awareness campaigns for motorists and motorcyclists to prevent and reduce road accidents.

The Council meeting, held under the theme “Strengthening public safety for the stability and development of Cuanza-Norte,” also instructed its operational bodies to carry out joint actions with other related institutions to combat poaching and the illegal exploitation of strategic minerals.The meeting, led by the institution’s provincial delegate, José Fernandes, urged operational bodies to carry out community policing actions to strengthen community engagement.

Participants noted with concern the growing trend in sexual abuse and assault, primarily against minors, and recommended strengthening efforts to combat them.

They also expressed concern about the overcrowding of the local penitentiary and the lack of a juvenile re-education center in the region.

The event discussed, among other topics, the 2024/2025 rainy season and the contingency plan for the 2025/2026 season, the crime situation in the first half of this year, and the status of the Ministry of Finance’s executive services in the province.

The topics covered were “Ethics and deontology in the exercise of management and command activities”, as well as “The strategy for preventing and combating corruption in Minint bodies in the province”.The event was attended by representatives from the Minint delegation and its executive bodies, namely the Criminal Investigation, Civil Protection and Fire Services, Emigration and Foreigners and Penitentiary Services.
