The Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing, Carlos dos Santos, acknowledged, on Wednesday, in the province of Cuanza-Sul, that there has been progress in the coastal protection works of the city of Porto-Amboim, with physical execution in the order of 80 percent, guaranteeing that a further eight kilometres will be added.
Carlos dos Santos, who has been carrying out inspection visits since yesterday to assess the levels of execution of the infrastructure construction works underway in that part of the national territory, as part of the assessment of structural projects, expressed his concern regarding the roads and bridges on the National Road (EN) 100, between the Longa region and the Keve River bridge, assigned to lot 2, ensuring that the necessary corrections will be made to guarantee greater mobility.
“We are satisfied with the pace of the works, which will consist of correcting them, so that we can return to normality”, he explained, having recognized the commitment of the contractors in the execution of the aforementioned constructions.
As regards projects linked to directed self-construction, the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing guaranteed the continuity of the project for the provision of housing among the population, especially young people.
The provincial governor, Mara Quiosa, expressed her expectation that the minister had brought a multidisciplinary team to the province, capable of identifying the problems that are hindering the completion of the works.
“We are pleased with the visit of the Minister of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing, who brought a delegation to our province that can help identify the problems that affect our province”, he said, highlighting that the visits constitute “the driving force for the completion of the works”.
The field trip of the holder of the Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing portfolio began in the Longa river region, which includes lot 2 of the rehabilitation project, having noted the state of the road infrastructure, which calls for rehabilitation.
Carlos dos Santos then went to the headquarters of the municipality of Porto-Amboim, where he was received by the Governor of the province, Mara Quiosa, as a gesture of courtesy.
Afterwards, the delegations from the Ministry of Public Works and the provincial government went to see the coastal protection works in Porto Amboim, the section between the city of Porto-Amboim and the Keve river, on the EN 100, the containment works on the slopes of the Auditorium of the Provincial Government Headquarters, the construction of social housing in the locality of Saber Andar, the construction of the Sumbe circular road, the access works in the area surrounding the new Sumbe General Hospital.
On the occasion, the minister intervened in the consultation meeting with the Government of Cuanza-Sul and the companies involved in the projects, under the responsibility of the Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing.
Today, on the second day of work in the province, Carlos dos Santos’ workday will also focus on visits to the construction works of the integrated infrastructures of the city of Sumbe, such as the construction of access roads to the airport in the municipality of Sumbe, the works on the bridge over the Dui River.
The minister also visits the National Road (EN) 240, the National Petroleum Institute (INP) bypass, which gives access to the Gabela road, checks the condition of the EN 110, on the Gabela bypass to the municipality of Conda, and visits the EN 240, which connects the city of Gabela to the headquarters of Quibala.
On the same day, Carlos dos Santos and the delegation accompanying him inspect the section that connects Quibala to the city of Wako-Kungo, in the municipality of Cela, and, on the last day of the field trip, the delegation travels to the municipality of Mussende, where they will inspect the rehabilitation works on the EN 140, which connects the town of Mussende to the municipality of Cangandala, in the province of Malanje.
The minister will then head to the municipality of Libolo, where he will learn about the rehabilitation works on the EN 120-2, which includes the Munenga diversion to Vila de Calulo. The last journey will be in the Zenza do Itombe region, where he will see the EN 120 and EN 321 roads, which are benefiting from rehabilitation works, as well as the EN 230, on the section between Maria Teresa and Catete.
