Minister Highlights Sport as Tool for Inclusion and Growth

Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Social Action, Family, and Women’s Promotion (MASFAMU), Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, said this Thursday in Luanda that sports should be promoted in communities, as they contribute to the physical, emotional, and social development of children and adolescents.

The minister was speaking at the opening of a campaign to “Raise Awareness and Social Awareness Against Teen Pregnancy and Teen Marriage,” which brought together several government entities and civil society organizations.

The minister stated that sports are an important tool for overcoming challenges, occupying free time, and promoting healthy lifestyles, combined with patriotic education.

She added that these initiatives should be promoted in all community spaces, with special attention to the most vulnerable areas.

Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto also reinforced the fight against the exploitation and violation of children’s rights, highlighting cases of pregnancy, early marriage, rape, and child prostitution, practices that, according to her, seriously compromise the healthy development of children and adolescents.

These situations, he said, should not be seen as social phenomena, but as serious human rights violations, because they end up interrupting children’s education and thus compromising the physical and mental health of the victims.

He also urged children and young people to be alert to danger signs and report any form of abuse or suspicious behavior.

“True transformation begins at home, through dialogue between parents and children, in schools with teachers, and also in sports with coaches and monitors,” he emphasized.
