Africa-Press – Angola. The first judging session of Miss-Huíla’2018, Beatriz Alves, began Wednesday, behind closed doors, in obedience to the principle of publicity.
The case, which dates back to 2021, had its first trial in November of the following year, with two sentenced to 13 years, one a fugitive from justice and Miss, at the time, exonerated since the procedural investigation phase, but with participation in the production of evidence as a declarant.
Beatriz Alves is accused of the crimes of kidnapping and aggravated robbery, of which her boyfriend, Cristiano do Porto, was a victim, while João Hélder, the new defendant included in the case, faces the crimes of abuse of power and obstruction of justice. This is a member of the Prison Services.
In the trial that took place in November 2022, the defendants appeared as declarants, but in the evidence production phase, the judge in the case at the time, Marcelino Ntyamba, ordered the opening of a new investigation against Beatriz Alves.
Due to the contradictions in her testimony and the accusations of the two convicts in the case, who “confirmed” her participation in the crimes and named the employee of the Lubango Prison Establishment, a new investigation was opened, the trial of which is now taking place.
In total, the case involved António Fernandes, Gerson Ramos and Osvaldo Benedito, sentenced to 13 years in prison, who allegedly orchestrated armed robberies in the communes of Huíla and Arimba (Lubango), of which 27 people were victims. , since March 2021, with the alleged involvement of the now accused.
Since last week, António Francisco and Gerson Guerreiro Ramos were released, in response to the appeal filed by the defense, which resulted in the application of habeas corpus , resulting from the excessive preventive detention in which they were placed and the delay in the Court’s response. Relationship.
The trial behind closed doors is the result of a request from the defense and approved by judge Tchissoca Tchinendele, due to the fact that one of them is a woman and in cases of crimes against freedom and sexual self-determination, public access to the trial is limited, in accordance with the Law 38/20 of 11 November of the Penal Code, in Articles 95 on Advertising and 96 on Public Assistance to procedural acts, explained the Court.
