Africa-Press – Angola. Forty-seven billion kwanzas is the cost of the modernization and restructuring works at the Luvo Border Post, municipality of Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire.

This project under the supervision of the General Tax Administration (AGT) was launched this Thursday, by the provincial governor, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho.

It will occupy an area of 21 hectares and will be completed in 20 months, by the construction company Mota-Engil-Angola.

The infrastructure will have several buildings to accommodate different state bodies, deployed in this location and other services, namely the Angolan Border Guard Police (PGFA) and the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME).

The services of Tax Police, Civil Protection and Firefighters, phytosanitary, electronic merchandise inspection equipment (Scanner), warehouses, medical post, changing rooms and video surveillance antennas will also be included.

When intervening at the launch of the aforementioned project, the president of the General Tax Administration Council (AGT), José Vieira Nuno Leiria, said that the aim, with this modernization, is to better manage the services of this institution, provided at the Luvo Border Post.

In his opinion, the modernization of the station will help to combat, in an incisive way, the recurring phenomenon of merchandise smuggling, as well as tax evasion, evils that, according to the person responsible, corrode the national economic fabric.

The aim, he stressed, is to carry out a project capable of giving a new image, accommodating and dignifying the employees and users of this border post.

“The Luvo border post is more focused on exports, different from other similar points in the country focused on imports”, he said, highlighting the intense movement of vehicles with goods that occurs at this location.

In turn, the governor of Zaire, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, asked the construction company to strictly comply with the deadlines agreed in the contract for the award of the work.

The border commune of Luvo is 60 kilometers north of the city of Mbanza Kongo, capital of the province of Zaire.
