Africa-Press – Angola. Three hundred and sixty heads of cattle, including cattle and goats, are going to be auctioned this Saturday (29), in the town of Omufitu Wo Kanamwene, southern Cunene province, said this Thursday, the vice-president of Expo/2023, Francisco Lumbaba.

Speaking on the preparation of the Cattle Auction, the official said that more than 260 bramam, bosmara, Mix, Zebu, cross-species and 100 goats, in addition to sheep, pigs, horses and poultry, have been confirmed.

At this point, he stressed that all the organizational conditions are safeguarded so that the cattle are in place by the end of the day on Friday, given the pasture conditions.

He made it known that farmers and traditional breeders are participating in this edition, who will have the opportunity to show their potential and expand their business.

“The auction serves to exchange experience between breeders, from various locations in the region, for the animal trade, creating an opportunity to motivate them to better pastures for their cattle”, he underlined.

For the present edition, he said, the usual cattle breeders from the neighboring Republic of Namibia were absent, who withdrew, in the last moments, given the exchange rate variation of the national currency and the Namibian dollar.

Francisco Lumbamba said that, despite the withdrawal of the Namibians, the event has farmers with quality animal potential capable of attracting buyers.

The cattle auction is one of the main attractions of Expo-Cunene, which takes place within the framework of the festivities for the founding of the province of Cunene, marked on the 10th of July.
