Africa-Press – Angola. Forty thousand and fifty liters of smuggled fuel were seized in the municipalities of Chitato, Cambulo and Lucapa, province of Lunda Norte, by the National Police, during operation “Raio X”.

Operation “Raio X”, underway in Lunda Norte province since the beginning of this month, aims to combat illegal trafficking and exploitation of diamonds, illegal immigration, human trafficking and fuel smuggling along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The information was provided today, Monday, by the technician from the Institutional Communication and Press office of the Provincial Command of the National Police, Alexandre Pereira, of the 40,500 liters of fuel, 32,475 are gasoline and 7,557 are diesel, which were destined for the DRC.

He said that last weekend’s operation also allowed the seizure of 19 diamonds of different carats.

He reported that after the arrest, the fuel was forwarded to the General Tax Administration (AGT), while the diamond stones were handed over to the “Operation Transparency” Enrollment Commission, as trustees.

In the same operation, he continued, the Border Guard Police (PGF) prevented the illegal entry of 586 foreigners from the DRC into Angolan territory at the border posts of Chitato, Cuango, Caungula, Lóvua and Cambulo.

He added that after being questioned, the immigrants were forced to return immediately to their country of origin.
